Founded in July 2005, Beijing Poly International Auction Co. Ltd is a comprehensive auction house owned by Poly Culture & Arts Co., Ltd.
In the November of 2005, Beijing Poly International Auction company successfully hold its first important auction of Chinese painting in Beijing. There sales have been offered as Contemporary Chinese Paintings and Calligraphy, Modern Chinese Paintings and Chinese Oil Paintings. Over 1400 piece of paintings performed well with a total sale of RMB 560 million.
Beginning from 2006 autumn auction, it started emphasizing on auction of Chinese contemporary oil painting. By following the principle of selling extractive art works, Beijing Poly has achieved a total sale of 319 million in 2006 autumn auction. Of that, the three Chinese oil painting auctions have achieved a total sale of 188 million. In 2006 autumn auction, Xiaodong Liu's 'Newly Displaced Population' was hammered with a 22 million hammer price, which broke the world record in the field of Chinese contemporary art.
